The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2020 as an undergraduate programme with an initial intake of 10 students. Initially affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University, Serkkadu, Vellore, the department is presently affiliated to Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram, and follows the TANSCHE syllabus.
The department currently has 41 students, supported by three teaching faculty members and a laboratory assistant. The department aims to provide strong academic foundations along with practical exposure.
The Charles Chemistry Association (CCA) acts as the academic and outreach wing of the Department of Chemistry, promoting academic excellence, industrial exposure, and social responsibility.
Organizes seminars, webinars, workshops, and guest lectures by experts.
Facilitates industrial exposure programmes, internships, and industry visits.
Conducts outreach activities in Ayan Kunjaram village creating social awareness.
Engages students in rural development with village administrators and women self-help groups.
Collaborates with the Agriculture and Livestock Development Centre run by the Archdiocese of Pondicherry.
Promotes organic farming, sustainable agriculture, and livestock development.
